ABOUT ROBERT PIEROT
The most important fact to know about me outside of my dedicated role to my lovely wife, Shelby, and four-year-old son, Barrett, I am passionate about the work I do with non-profits and advocating for our youth. It brings me nothing but pleasure to be a servant leader and mentor, especially for my former students during my tenure as an educator. Due to my work within my immediate community, my passion project is creating a safe space on Twitch for former students to communicate in their times of struggle, whether physically or mentally. It is an honor for me to be seen as a source of refuge for them.
Other fun facts about myself are, I am an avid weightlifter, and I played the double bass during high school and for six years professionally with a symphony. I do have plans to pick up my instrument and return to the symphony once again this fall.
My First Job Ever: I secured my first job at age 12 as a plumbing assistant for my father’s business where I carried water heaters in and out of homes. The next year, I was installing water heaters, and I continued this position all through high school.

Q: Who’s your favorite business leader that inspires you?
My favorite inspirational leader is motivational coach, author and podcast host, Ed Mylett. I admire his focus and structure regarding how he works through his day. The systems he has in place as a leader are practices, I try to implement in my day-to-day work life.

Q: How do you overcome burn out?
I am able to overcome burnout by my simple trilogy: physical work — whether it is a heavy lifting workout or Brazilian jujitsu — reading, my favorite book at the moment is The Power of One More, and prayer. As a former boy scout, I have to give camping or exploring nature honorable mentions as it helps me reset.

Q: Do you believe there is a pattern or formula to becoming a successful leader?
Yes, there is a formula to being a successful leader. I believe it is all about active listening and the ability to understand other people’s intentions. This allows you to know the reasons behind why they do what they do, which is invaluable to leaders. Whether you are a CEO, manager, or employee, you must be able to listen to those around you to have business success and workplace harmony.

Q: Places that you’ve enjoyed visiting locally, nationally & globally.
Locally, I enjoy visiting local lakes in the Dallas/Fort Worth region where I can fish, camp or hike. Nationally, I love the mountain scenery and outdoor activities in Breckenridge, Colo., as I was able to visit there a lot as a child and I go back to visit to this day. Globally, New Zealand is one of my favorites. I immediately fell in love with the country on a two-week trip to attend my brother’s wedding. They have such an incredible sense of community and easy access to nature. It was so much fun catching a rugby match at the local pub, which made it seem like a more authentic experience.
