ABOUT KM|Floors Inc.

Quality Flooring is our motto! “We believe every floor should make a statement,” We personally consult with each client, and we also credit our teams for maintaining craftsman caliber. “Building a team to support our vision has been essential. Most of our team members have been with us since day one, and they’re as passionate about each project as the homeowners are. They add those extra touches and go above and beyond, like it’s their own home.” Because we always have one eye on the future with our kids in mind, environmental responsibility is a natural priority. We focus on sustainability, offering eco-friendly hardwood and luxury vinyl tile. We also send all old carpet and padding back to the mill for recycling, minimizing landfill usage.

Q: What inspired you to start your own business?

The 2008 recession inspired/forced us to start our own business. We both found ourselves unemployed from a family-owned flooring company due to the economic housing crisis in 2008. Even amongst one of the scariest and trying times in history we had a deep knowing that if we listened to that inner voice that one day we could help to change/improve the industry.

Q: Who are your ideal clients?

K|M Floors ideal clients are the designers, the dreams, the visionaries, the stay at moms who love designing with heart and soul, and anyone who owns a home or business that is looking to put their own authenticity in their own personal space.

Q: Do you provide services outside Atlanta?

K|M Floors, Inc. services inside and outside the Perimeter. We will also travel throughout the Southeast depending on the job. K|M has completed multiple jobs in different states that have consisted of malls, department stores, hotels, fast food chains, and retail spaces.

ABOUT GRAHAM ESTATE PLANNING

Stephanie P. Graham, LLC, is prepared to help you plan for tomorrow and prepare for the future. Graham Estate Planning specializes in all Estate Planning matters, from an initial Last Will and Testament to Administration to Probate and Litigation of an Estate.

Q: As a leader, it is important to maintain connections with role models and mentors. Who do you look up to for inspiration or mentorship?

I have a cousin who is a self-made millionaire with extensive training honing emotional IQ, managing people and creating business strategies, a dear friend who is a serial entrepreneur who helps me see the missteps I can’t see in my business as quickly as she does, an incredible estate planning attorney mentor who supports me unconditionally in developing my practice structure. I have worked with two amazing 7 figure coaches who are available to me when I need guidance or a quick business tweak and a personal counselor for when I second guess my people decisions and to ensure I block toxic people and toxic circumstances in my business relationships, connections, or personal relationships.  I call them my personal board of directors. Everyone should have one.

Q: As we grow and evolve, what is one decision you wished you made sooner and why?

I wish I had not waited so long to hire an assistant or to start my practice. It is very difficult to train a new hire when you are so busy, you actually need three staff members.

Q: What are the most important attributes of successful leaders today?

The most important attributes of a successful leader are 1. to inspire you, not break you, 2. to listen and guide you, 3. to support contributions to the team and 4. to recognize when your team member needs more responsibility and 5. not be intimidated because there is no real competition against you except you.

ABOUT DR. DERRECK KAYONGO

He is an entrepreneur and human rights innovator born on January 25, 1970, in Kampala, Uganda, just before General Idi Amin Dada seized power in a military coup. As violence spread through the country and civil war erupted, Kayongo and his family became refugees in Kenya. He later immigrated to America to attend the Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Though most well known as the founder of the Global Soap Project, Kayongo is an expert in environmental sustainability and global health, as well as a former CEO of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2016 the Georgia State Senate passed a resolution recognizing Kayongo's incredible journey from refugee to CEO.

“As many of you know, I have a passion for social justice. Like many of us in the Diaspora, extremely dilapidating corrupt leadership in Africa is a clear and present danger to the continent's future. Rather than row our hands in defeat, I say we stand up and speak up against this abuse of human rights.” Dr. Derek Kayongo

Q:What has been your most challenging obstacle you’ve had to overcome?

Fear to vacate my comfort zone in my career to opt for risk. At first I didn't trust myself to dream and act upon my dream. I thought my skills were inapt. But now I realize risk-takers like everyone fear to start but they gather the gumption to start and don't fret to fail. When you courageously start, the universe provides helpers and you should trust in yourself so the helpers can gain confidence as they help you.

Q:What was your driving force behind Global Soap Project?

I spent ten years perfecting my skills and talents before I went out to chase after my dream of building Global Soap. My skills and talents at the end of the day drove me into success. But at the end of the day the idea of hotels throwing away 800 million bars of soap in juxtaposition of the two million kids that die every year due to poor hygiene and sanitation were the reason I set off on this noble journey.

Q: What exciting project are you currently working on?

Africa MBele. Africa Mbele (pronounced m-BELL-ay: Swahili for forward) was birthed out of numerous conversations among concerned Diasporans about these dire conditions facing Africa.

We plan to build a Diasporic movement to leverage recoverable assets by investing these resources in innovative projects to improve food production, energy access, communications, water and waste management, education, and health and wellbeing services for the greater good of the most vulnerable in Africa.

ABOUT MYIBROWS

Blake Alexander Cosmetics and its product, Myibrows, was started by me in 2016. I believed that this was a product that was needed, as I have searched the retail market for years hoping somebody would create this product. First, I patented the idea immediately, as I knew it was a great one. Then I began the process of finding the best App builder who would embrace my idea and not slam a door in my face. And, I did just that. Then the process of finding the correct medical grade template material was another time-consuming journey, however, that was also accomplished. As a brow product-user myself, I saw the importance and need of saving time while preparing for my day, and having a lovely eyebrow placed correctly on my face. I built this company on the belief that most people don’t have a lot of time to put their makeup on, as there are people who have to get children ready, prepare for other obligations, and just should not need to spend that much time in front of a mirror. This company belief wants to help with that task. If it will save you 10 or 15 minutes each morning, then that is more valuable time for you to use elsewhere.

Q:What type of services do you offer?

The services we offer are currently the free downloading of our Myibrows App, with a one-stop shopping experience. Finding your perfect brow with our “AI” brow capabilities, then ordering your brow template. In addition to that, you can shop in our App Retail Store for your favorite brow products. Our many YouTube videos with our professional makeup artists showing you how to produce the brow you want is just a click away on the App.

Q: What inspired you to design this type of app?

This is quite a personal story for me. I was at a point in my life where I was looking at a secondary form of income, such as buying a business, investing in something, etc. I am a full-time real estate agent, and we work strictly on commission. The idea of having another form of income as a single woman was necessary to me. So, I prayed a lot for God to point me in the direction I needed to be in. My entire life, I struggled with my eyebrows. I was blessed with a “wonky” eyebrow that seemed to be a genetic flaw throughout my mother’s side of the family. With one brow being nice, and the other being difficult, I tried everything possible to make my brows look similar. So, in 2016, during my search for a business, I was looking in the mirror doing my brows one day. After working at it for way too long, I said out loud, “God, why can’t anybody create this idea soon? It can’t be that difficult!” And, a loud bell went off in my head and I said, “I’m going to do it!!!! This will be my business.” I felt as though God helped me answer my own questions for a business and an eyebrow solution. So, I wrote down my thoughts, hired a patent attorney to do a patent search, eventually patented it, and here we are today. This has been a 4 ½ year project, with a few interruptions, but nonetheless, we are here!

Q: What inspired you to start your own business?

I’ve always had a passion for business and an entrepreneurial spirit. ISP launched after my blended family and I left San Diego and the Navy and moved to Atlanta. I became a stay-at-home mom of 6 kids. Believe it or not, I found myself bored and yearning for a challenge while the kids were at school. I wanted to do something that gave me fulfillment. My small boutique insurance agency was on autopilot, and I wanted to do business with the government. But honestly, my children have always been my inspiration in everything I ever do. They are my WHY! During the pandemic, I was going through an excruciating divorce and besides my 3 biological kids, ISP was what kept me motivated and inspired…and incredibly busy!

Q: What are the most exciting services/product offerings/collaborations/projects you recently experienced with your business?

We just partnered with Overstock Government to supply PPE to the GSA Marketplace!!  We are their only certified Minority, Woman-Owned Small business supplying essential PPE available to Federal agencies and all 50 states and US territory governments. Our highest quality, competitively priced products include NIOSH N95 1862 Level 3 surgical masks and fentanyl and chemo-rated hospital-grade nitrile gloves.

ABOUT HEALER IN HEELS

I take people through life transformations to remove what’s holding them back and then set them on the right path toward fulfillment and success in life. I do all of this through my many tools in my toolbelt: Energy Healing, my Psychic Ability, Life Coaching, Business Strategy Coaching and Hypnosis. With all of these tools, I’m able to tackle their issues from all angles to ensure quick and amazing results.

What inspired you & how did you get started with launching The Healer in Heels®?

It all started from a seemingly horrific circumstance back in 2005. I was an executive at a finance company back then. One day, my right hand became stuck in a half-fist, and I couldn’t move my fingers. It was paralyzed. Soon, I couldn’t use my hands at all, and my legs were also starting to fail. Something was clearly wrong, so like most people, I went to the doctor. I went to dozens of doctors, and none knew the cause. Was it lupus? Was it MS? Maybe it was fibromyalgia? “It could be rheumatoid arthritis or some other autoimmune disease,” they guessed. After months of tests, medications, and biopsies to no avail, I realized I had to be my own hero. I had to rediscover my gift of healing.

What are your official titles. Can you walk us through of each of the expertise that you practice?

My official titles are International Energy Healer, Spiritual Teacher, Hypnotist and Life Coach. My trademark is The Healer in Heels ®I am a natural-born Energy Healer, which means I was born with a heightened ability to heal myself and others on genuine levels through energy. I have created a healing modality influenced by my study and practice of Reiki, Shamanism, Pranayama, Ayurveda, Chi Gong, and Ancient Egyptian healing practices. This coupled with the creation of my own unique methods has served me very well in quickly getting real, long-lasting results in people. All my clients notice a significant difference in themselves after even the first session.

ABOUT 1ST APPROVED FINANCIAL

1st Approved Financial is more than just about educating clients about financial products or selling them financial products. Our companies premise and soul purpose is to create and educate clients about generational wealth. We do this in many ways, but I’ll highlight the key elements on how to make this happen.

Becoming an Entity- As we well know America favors people with business and those with strong credit. In our program we teach and build clients credit and businesses from scratch, structure it, and get their business funded! If they are not in the best credit position, we make sure that they are and explain how credit affects not only their life but also business in creating generational wealth. Our approach is simple, we make sure our clients understand while this is life changing, but more so mind changing.

Real Estate- As we know there is nothing that beats Real Estate when it comes to building generational wealth so for our clients we are able to assist and guide them with owning, leveraging, and obtaining Real Estate. We first take a look at what are their financial goals, and then from there formulate a plan based on using Real Estate to obtain their financial goals. Offering funding, advisory, and strategy are just some of the tools & arsenals to help the client build wealth!

Insurance- One unique thing about us is we believe in partnerships, and you can’t make it on your own so, we have partnered with several insurance companies for the education of how Life Insurance works and how you build generational wealth with Life Insurance.

Q: What lesson have you’ve learned that shifted your mindset to optimize running your business?

Most people get into entrepreneurship because they have a particular skill. They then build a business around getting paid for that skill. But that isn’t really a business, is it? That is what I would consider a job. So, one of the biggest challenges of entrepreneurship is transitioning from that “job” to a “company” that runs by itself and is no longer dependent on you. And to do that, you need a team, and you need to be able to delegate to them. I’ve realized that there are two primary challenges with teamwork and entrepreneurship. The first is that entrepreneurs get hung up on how they’re going to do something, and they hit a roadblock when they don’t have the capabilities or resources to do it themselves. The easiest way to bypass this is to utilize the simple concept of Who Not How. Instead of asking, “How can I do this?” ask “Who can do this for me?” When you first start out in entrepreneurship, you may have to do everything yourself. But if you want to scale and grow, you need to get away from that “How” mindset and adopt a “Who” mindset. Realizing this concept changes the game for me big time and I was able to do a major shift within myself and my company. I added an extra $200,000 to my company once I realize the power of building my team.

Q: Three things that we absolutely need to know about you?

Confidence is a HUGE part of how I keep believing in myself and my dreams. Being confident is a great sign of self-love, and it helps us to stay away from comparing. I am happy in my own skin and at peace in my mind. Being confident is a great comfort. Being confident is a personal accomplishment for myself. I didn’t always see my value and my worth. Not being confident in my abilities I lost me so much money and opportunities. It caused me to be slept on for a while in my industry. But honestly when I tapped into my higher self and saw myself through the eyes of God and I truly saw just how much of an asset I am to this world, my life changed. I want to help every woman in this world see their true value. That’s why I started a group called Royalty from Birth. Check it out on Facebook when you can! I often call myself the fear tackler lol. I tackle them head on, and I do not run away from them. We all run into different fears throughout our lives, but it is how we handle them that will determine if we are being mentally strong. We all have it in us to face our fears, but sometimes we don’t know how to do so. Time is the best solution to this confusion. We shouldn’t have to rush to overcome a fear, but we should start taking steps toward the goal of overcoming the fear. Slow and steady often wins the race with this one!

I’m a “go-getter” I’m an advocate for putting my dreams into action. I’m big on envisioning great opportunities in the future. When we envision positive outcomes, we are more likely to achieve those visions. Our minds thrive on creative and critical thinking. Chasing our dreams and working to make our powerful thoughts a wonderful reality is my definition of being a “go-getter. Doing everything in your power make sure you have the best chance at success.

Q: How do you stay on top of industry trends?

One way that I stay ahead of trends in our industry is by researching and understanding the trends in industries that have common threads with ours. By researching consumers and data that have crossover potential or that parallel what we are working toward, I can continue to come up with new ideas and stay ahead of our competition. It also helps me stay open-minded and resourceful. Also, When I travel, I budget time to walk or ride public transportation, taking pictures of things that catch my interest. Thumbing through that collection of images from multiple venues often helps me uncover trends or areas for future exploration. It’s crucial to be on social media — every day. Make sure you customize your business’s feeds on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram so that you can easily scan the relevant and trending topics that day. Also, Your team (if they’re good) should have their eyes and ears to the ground, too. We have a companywide email alias where team members can share interesting findings or articles.
